Client Overview:

One of the major life sciences companies in USA, has many regulatory responsibilities, including the obligation to document and maintain consumer feedback on the safety and efficacy of their products.

Pharmaceutical and medical device companies devote a significant portion of their PV resources to case processing. To make matters even more challenging, case numbers are increasing year after year. Facing these issues the client was looking for solutions that could cut costs out of case processing.

Intelligent Automation for Pharmacovigilance Case Intake Helps Life Sciences Major Reduce Compliance Risk By 25%

The AiRo Perspective:

AiRo piloted automation of one of the routes of PV case intake - reporting from physicians by field sales reps using a messaging bot solution. AiRo is working further on an advanced prototype capable of E2B compliant XML output. Information received through a conversational assistant was very convenient for the reporter.

Problem:

The Traditional Approach To Handle Large Volume Of AE Cases Was Proving To Be Inefficient And Costly For The Client

On an average, the client processes 200,000 adverse event (AE) cases annually. With pressure to be leaner and more efficient, the client needed to be able to process this increased caseload while maintaining their current cost base.

Moreover, due to the lack of experienced staff the client was facing accuracy issues and delay in case intake cycle forms. This problem generated frequent and rigorous PV training requirements for sales staff. The client was looking for solutions that could help cut costs while increasing accuracy in the case processing.

Solution:

AiRo’s Intelligent Case Intake Solution Wins Client Confidence

AiRo piloted automation of one of the routes of PV case intake – reporting from physicians by field sales reps using a messaging bot solution. AiRo is working further on an advanced prototype capable of E2B compliant XML output. Information received through a conversational assistant was very convenient for the reporter. Sales reps were able to capture data instantly from physicians in the field, via phones.

The platform used RPA Bots in conjunction with speech-to-text conversion to capture and populate the adverse drug reaction form fields automatically which was designed by AiRo within the Bot. Once the fields are populated, the system can provide a source document as an output, in a desired PDF version. This solution worked in sync with AiRo’s “Data Entry Tool for ICSR” solution.
